According to Sky News Online, a British couple vacationing in Majorca, Spain, allegedly spotted a little girl they believed to be the still-missing Madeleine McCann (pictured left) on the beach of Cala d'Or.

The couple stated that the little girl was on the beach with two women. When they spotted the little girl, the couple went into their hotel room to check the internet to see photos of Madeleine to determine if it really was her. They were convinced it was. When they returned to the beach, the girl and the two women were gone.

There have been numerous sightings of McCann since she went missing in Portugal in May 2007.

My question is, from an armchair quarterback position, if the couple really believed it was Madeleine, why didn't one of them go to the hotel room while the other kept an eye on the young girl? Or, why didn't they access the internet from their cell phones? Or another beachgoer's cell phone?
