WHAT'S THE MATTER WITH KANSAS?

John Sebelius, 23-year-old son of Kansas Governor Kathleen Sebelius, has created a new board game entitled Don't Drop the Soap. According to U.S.A. Today, the prison-based game was part of a class project at the son's school.

His parents claim they "are very proud of their son's...creativity and talent."

Apparently, a couple of radio personalities are not happy that the Governor's son is selling the game from the Governor's mansion.

MAKES THE SOPRANOS LOOK LIKE THE PEANUTS GANG

Yet another reason I wish I could live in Australia -- AC/DC, The Wiggles, and now, Underbelly. This 13-part, $10 million miniseries is based around real-life gangland murders in Melbourne and crime kingpin Carl Williams.

Unfortunately, the series is running into a bit of legal trouble.

WHO IS PROFILING THE PROFILERS?

Dr. J. Reid Meloy, criminal profiler and criminal textbook author of such titles as Violence Risk & Threat Assessment: A Practical Guide for Mental Health & Criminal Justice Professionals and the upcoming Stalking, Threatening, and Attacking Public Figures is attempting to lay low these days. According to Fort Collins: Now, Meloy was the key witness in putting alleged teenage killer Tim Masters in prison in 1999 for the murder of Peggy Hetrick in 1987.

According to the paper, Meloy:

...was the cornerstone of that prosecution—without him, it’s unlikely that Masters would have been arrested in the first place. To date, he has provided the only “evidence” in the nearly 21 years since the murder that implicated Masters in any way: an analysis of Masters’ boyhood doodles, crude sketches and violent short stories that—even in the complete vacuum of physical evidence connecting Masters to the crime—convinced Meloy he was guilty.

Well, guess what? DNA tests have come back and declare that Masters was not the murderer.

Can we please have some regulation on these so-called "profilers"?

URBAN CRIME OUTFITTERS

Many of you fans of true crime are also fond of the fictional mystery genre. Be sure to check out The Outfit, a "collective of Chicago crime writers" who blog about murder, mayhem, and the perils of publishing.

V.I. Warshawski creator Sara Paretsky (pictured left) is one of the seven contributors.

SEAN PENN'S GOT MILK

Director Gus Van Sant's next film, Milk, held a cattle call for extras this past Monday to recreate a gay rights march in San Francisco. Van Sant's film tells the story of the first openly gay elected official in the country, Harvey Milk, and how he was assassinated less than one year into his term as supervisor of the Castro district.

Oscar-winning actor Sean Penn stars as Milk and Josh Brolin stars as Dan White, the man who pulled the trigger on the popular politician.
